Website Research: Chahan Minassian and Kelly Wearstler.

 After created my own website. I will study two websites to compare and contrast these. In these website research will assist me to understand more about how to create my own website and so that I can consider my overall design ,colours layout, navigation, typography, usability/user-friendliness, links and mobile view.

I will looking at Chahan Minassian and Kelly Wearstler. are these are two artists I will be looking in more dept as my further research.

First I will be looking at Chahan Minassian website.

As by looking at the home page, I think it interesting since there are two separate option to choose what the viewer are looking for clearly. The typography is really clearly to understand and the font is easy to read. The colour layout pictures are lowered the opacity of the image which is good because it help the typography look more stand out with black colour font.

By clicked into interior design option, it leads to interior design portfolio pages. The navigation bar is clearly show and understanding. I really like the slides which are showing Minassian project that he has done in different places. The typography is easy to read with white colour that suit with background and it helps the viewers can she clearly where is the project located. The other good part is that there is an option with change to french language which can be helpful.

Just by clicked on project in navigation bar, it stated to show several projects that viewers want to choose. In these options the typographic are easy to read, it is clearly and understandable. When clicked the project navigation bar it pop-up along with a white background which is help the title text not to be blocked by the background image.

I clicked into this project. In this portfolio project is good. The typography is clear, It shows a big title of name of the project that help the viewer know that they are in the right place and it is also describe about what the project is, where are they located, type of the concept design. The concept images are well showing but the organization is looking a bit busy since there are little space gap between image to image.

Then I clicked into profile page. The profile page is simple but well described, it included a picture of artist, who he is and his quote as he defined himself. his works with date and year and what he has achieved so far.It also shows his works, his achieved and what he has done throughout his works. The paragraph are well organized , detail and informative. The typography is simple which make reader easy to read and understandable. 

Then I will look at the contact page. In this contact page is simple design with a clear structure. It shows information detail such as location address, opening time, phone contact. It also include fields to message for more information which is make it easier for the viewer to find all the contact information in just one page. The typography is understandable with a black colour font.

The copyright are showing in every pages and copyright details with links for Chahan Minassian website.

Lastly, I checked on mobile view of Chahan Minassian website by using my own phone to see if there is any different. I think the mobile view on Chahan Minassian website is quite different. The portfolio page are looking a bit busy compare to laptop view because the slide are not showing in full image, it moves a bit fast which make it is not looking good. The navigations bar on the top of page are disappear, it is only show one option bar to click and it will appear navigation bars on the left hand with white background.

After I will looking at Kelly Wearstler website.

In this home page is looking interesting, the design layout is good. There are also navigation bars on the top of the page with different options. The typography is simple and understandable but the size is a bit small also the black fonts colour make the navigations bars not looking stand out. However when I put couser mouse on the project navigation bar it appear a white background behind it which is make the title stand out and easy to read. The design layout is interesting especially the text animation when appearing on screen and when I clicked into project navigation bar it shows titles of different projects that divided into sections of what types the projects is which is really well organized that make it easier for the viewers to choose what type of project they want to look at.

Then I clicked into this project in residential section. In this portfolio page, the picture, the design layout is interesting. The typography are clearly show, a big font size title with white colour along with small font size of the project location. 

I like how this portfolio are present. They are very well organized, They very well describe about the project in each photos include information behind the project, concepts, materials in each photo in this project. 

By scrolling down to the bottom of the page there are more information including about, concierge, gallery, contact detail, links to follow their program, subscription and copyright that are appearing in every pages of the website.

 

Then I will look at about page. In this about page is about gallery information, there is no information about artist, works or achievement which is not really informative.

Next I will look at the contact page. In this page I think it is simple and clearly detail, there are gap field for message with detail, working hours and urgent contact number. The typography of the title font look attractive and understandable. There are also include picture which is make this page looking plain.

Lastly I will look at mobile view on my phone. The mobile view is quite good then the laptop view even though there are quite similar. However on mobile view it easier to understand since it is not showing a lot option that make it looks less busy on home page. The portfolio page are clearly show as the laptop view.  

 

After researched and study about their website, I prefer Kelly Wearstler website since it is more friendly on laptop and mobile view. Portfolio pages are well design, image are clearly show with detail of information related to project, the typography are understandable, the design layout are interesting compared to Chahan Minassian website.
